Draft UN Security Council Resolution on Nord Stream

Thank you, Mr. President.

Switzerland abstained from the vote on the resolution presented by the Russian Federation in regard to the damage caused to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.

Switzerland is concerned about these events, which, according to available information, are due to acts of sabotage. We reiterate our condemnation of all acts of sabotage against critical infrastructure, including energy infrastructure.

Denmark, Germany and Sweden are conducting national investigations to shed light on the facts. We are in favor of waiting for their results. In view of these multiple ongoing investigations, we believe that mandating an additional investigation would not be beneficial at this stage.
